“Luna, get off of the bed! Right now! You don’t live here and that’s not your bed! If you want to watch tv in here I don’t care but don’t lay on the bed.” Isabella came out of nowhere yelling at Luna. Luna got off of the bed and sat on the floor. She hated being around Isabella, the amount of yelling she does to Luna was never fun. Luna always questions why she lets her speak to her this way and it’s because she is older than her and she is Marc’s mom. Once Luna’s mom hears that random outburst from Isabella, she must have said something to Marc.
“Well mom, you don’t have to worry about Luna on the bed because we are going to head home to make sure Chewie isn’t chewing up our tree. We will see you on New Year's Eve.” Luna was glad they were leaving but she knew that she was going to be the reason which wasn’t fair for everyone else.
“I thought you were staying the night? I made the beds for you all.”
“Well, clearly if Luna wasn’t going to be allowed on a bed that isn’t used 50% of the year I think it would be best to have her lay on her own bed without getting yelled at.” We all said our goodbyes, Luna just smiled and waved because speaking wasn’t going to make things better. The 10 minute car ride felt like it was an hour long.
“You need to talk to your mother about how she talks to Luna.”
“What do you want me to do about her?”
“Tell her to stop yelling at Luna for stupid reasons, like who yells at a kid for lying on a bed?”
“My mother has her reasons, it’s over now. Let’s head home.” Luna knew this argument wasn’t over though. She knew that they were going to fight about it for the rest of the night. ‘It’s your fault,’ not now. She needs to be far away from everyone, she needs a moment away to get these thoughts out of her head. ‘You caused this fight,’ ‘it’s always your fault.’ She could hear it getting louder. She wanted to get out of the car so badly and run home but she didn’t know how long this 10 minute drive was going to be. She wanted to cry but if she cried they would think she was crying about the whole Isabella situation. To be honest, Luna didn’t like Isabella either and it was obvious that she wasn’t liked by Marc’s family because they would do events on weekends when she was with her dad but she never said anything about it. She couldn’t stand how they looked at her, she knew that she was unwanted when it came to Isabella but it never got this out of hand.
“Luna, are you okay?” Luna’s mom was looking at her from the passenger seat. She couldn't tell if her mom was being concerned or not.
“She’s fine Jen, just leave it alone.”
“Leave it alone. Marc, your mother yelled at your daughter and you did nothing to stop her.”
He muttered under his breath,”well she isn’t my daughter.” Luna heard it because she was right behind his seat. She wanted to cry even more. ‘You caused this,’ Luna hated this moment. She stayed quiet and just watched as they were driving home. When they got home, she just stayed outside for a while. She didn’t want to go inside the apartment after hearing that line.
