It was Fun while it lasted

Luna and Marc’s parents have an “interesting” relationship. She would be the sweetest kid and she would be called disrespectful. She spoke back to Marc’s mom Isabella once and it wasn’t even for Luna’s sake, it was for Kennedy because Kennedy was complaining about the food. Isabella told Marc that Luna was rude and that she threw everything on the floor like a 5 year old, when Luna said it wasn’t true Marc didn’t listen to her but to his mom. Luna was punished for a week because of it. Luna rarely spoke around Marc’s parents because they chose to only speak Spanish in front of her when they knew she didn’t understand them. She always felt alone when it came time to spend time with them, she thought that since it was a holiday that maybe they would ease up on her. They get to their house and everyone is hugging and saying their greetings, while Luna just has a smile on her face. She decides to go to Marc’s nephew’s room, Martin. Usually Martin lived in New York with his dad Carlos, so she would only see Martin in the summers and on certain breaks; luckily this wasn’t one of those breaks.
“Well look who decided to show her face here this holiday. Are you going to be good or are we going to have any issues?” She looks up at Isabella and just smiles. Speaking wasn’t going to be a smart decision since she was having a good day especially after Jessica just loved her for her singing voice.
“I asked you a question niña, Jennifer is your daughter always this rude?” Luna looked at her mom to show that she wasn’t doing anything wrong. Thankfully, her mom was quick to defend her against Isabella.
“Isabella, you are yelling at my daughter and assuming she is going to be an issue when all she is doing is sitting in a room far away from everyone. She has been going through a lot so she isn’t one to speak as much right now.” Her mom winked at Luna and gestured to go back to the room and watch TV. Luna did exactly that.
“Jennifer, I don’t understand how you could handle her. She is disrespectful to her elders, if she was my kid I would have smacked the smart remarks out of her.”
“Well good thing she isn’t your kid, also she hasn’t said more than 2 words since she has been here. I really think you might be wrong about Luna. She is a good kid with good grades, she is actually in an advanced math class and is in a school play. She might not be like Martin but she is getting out there and having fun with it in the process.”
“I just don’t see it. She isn’t like my sweet Martin.” When Luna heard that line, all she could think about was how Martin was her “number one enemy.” He would constantly bully Luna for no reason and then when she would tell on him everyone would choose his side. When she would take matters into her own hands, the only person on her side was her mom and then Luna would be called violent and out of control. She hated Martin because he was the golden child that could do no wrong while she was the evil witch from every movie.
