“Can you please leave.”
“Luna, don’t shut us out.”
“I am asking nicely, please leave and make sure everyone outside is gone too. Thank you.” Luna walked to her room with her head lowered from the amount of pain she was feeling. She heard the door close. It was quiet everywhere except in her head. All she could hear was ‘you caused this’ and ‘you are the mistake.’ Luna locked her bedroom door because she was broken inside. She heard the front door open again, and heard a knock on her door. She walked over to unlock the door, it was her mom. She didn’t want to see anyone right now.
“Luna, can we talk?”
“No, I’m sorry but no. I would like to just be alone right now.” Luna was completely drained out and sad.
“Luna, please listen to me. Your dad was wrong here.”
“I don’t care who is right and wrong right now. I asked to be alone right now and you are still going. I am going for a walk since you would rather keep talking about this. I will walk Chewie when I come back.” Luna grabbed her jacket, her iPod and headphones, and just left. She didn’t care about what her mom was going to say next. She ran down the stairs and saw the police were still there, she didn’t even go to them either. She just ran. She heard her name, but she didn’t care anymore. She needed to be away from it all. She slowed down and found herself at the jungle gym on the other side of the complex. She just laid on the top section so when they would start looking for her, she knew no one would see her. She plugged her headphones into her iPod and just shuffled all the songs she had added from Limewire. She started singing along to the songs because she was learning the songs more and more.
‘If I lay here/If I just lay here/Would you lie with me and just forget the world?/Forget what we're told/Before we get too old/Show me a garden that's burstin' into life’
She didn’t care who could hear her or how bad she sounded. She just wanted the voices in her head to shut up for at least two minutes. She saw someone coming by, it was Marc. Luna lowered her voice and watched as he walked by, it wasn’t that she didn’t want to be seen by Marc but she also wasn’t ready to talk to anyone yet.
“Luna please come home. No one will be mad at you. We want you safe.” Safe…what does that word mean in their eyes. Clearly the only place she was safe was at Laurissa’s house but that wasn’t an option at that moment. She was starting to hate the idea of being safe. If she wanted safety, she would have never dealt with Raina, she would have never dealt with Aaron, or worse she would have never been born if she has no one that knows how to keep her safe.
“So let me on down/'Cause time has made me strong/I'm starting to move on/I'm gonna say this now/Your chance has come and gone/And you know.../It's just too little too late/A little too wrong, and I can't wait/But you know all the right things to say/You know it's just too little too late/You say you dream of my face/But you don't like me, you just like the chase/To be real, it doesn't matter anyway/You know it's just too little too late.”
