After the bell rang, Luna was heading to lunch. She found Karol and they walked to lunch together, Luna couldn’t stop thinking about what Lucy said, why did she always defend Aaron? She wasn’t wrong about it but she did question why she did defend them. She sat in her spot surrounded by everyone at the table, they were all talking to each other while Luna was looking around. She felt like she wasn’t meant to sit at that table anymore, she didn’t want to eat anything so she chose to walk around the school.
She couldn’t get out of her own head and it was the last day of school. She found herself all the way near the locker rooms, she sat near there since she knew they were all running around inside. She kept walking around not thinking about how Oliver would feel knowing she was accepting a rumor about her dating someone. Luna looked at the sky and took a deep breath. She felt like time was taking forever to pass. She was happy to make up with all the people she could have thought of for hurting them throughout the year. She knew that she was going to have to talk with Kaley, but she didn’t know how to fix that friendship when she did nothing exactly which wasn’t fair to Luna but she figured this would be an issue eventually.
“Hey dork, what are you doing?” It was Oliver standing in front of her face. She wanted to pull his face in and just kiss him, but she knew that was wrong to do. She wanted to cry but she didn’t know why so she didn’t do that either. She just smiled at him and acted like nothing was wrong.
“Sup weirdo, nothing, just thinking about how I won’t see you as much as I do now. It's weird because I got used to seeing you everyday in Ms. Lewis’ class, to seeing to you only 3 times a day this year, to not knowing if I will see you at all next year.” Weirdly enough Luna wasn’t even realizing that it did make sense. She was going to miss Oliver the most. She didn’t know how she was going to handle 7th grade without him.
“Girlie, you think too much. Watch us have 5 classes together and I end up hating you more because of it.” They both laughed, Oliver always knew how to handle Luna when she was overthinking.
“You’re right. We might have a bunch of classes together or we might also get the same lunch schedule. Also, why are you out of class?” She didn’t forget to ask the important question.
“I saw you walking by and my teacher didn’t care if we stayed or left so I followed you and watched you twirling around as you watched the sky. I knew you were thinking about something but I didn’t want to just come forward and ask you so I waited until you sat down probably because you were dizzy but you were still looking at the sky. Why is that?”
“Creep, watching me from behind the shadows. I stare at the sky because I just feel like someone else is probably staring at the same sky as me and is wishing for happiness. If that makes sense.”
“It does, I didn’t think of it like that. Girlie, why do you always find a way to make people feel sad on the last days?” She looked at him staring at the sky with a tear running down his face. She didn’t realize that he was wishing for happiness at this moment, so she held his arm and they both stared at the sky for a couple of minutes. They didn’t move until she heard someone leaving the locker rooms.
“We should probably start heading to our next class.” As she said that she could see more people getting out of the locker room. She didn’t want any issues with the 7th graders because of the rumor about her and Aaron.
“Sure, let’s go. To confuse Lorraine on the last day, let’s switch seats and all of that.” He said as he laughed to himself thinking it was hilarious. Luna couldn’t help but laugh because he was laughing so much about it.
“Sure but if she questions it, I’m blaming you.”
“Don’t you already?”
“No? When have I blamed you?” He looked at Luna curious if she was serious but she was. She didn’t know what he was talking about.
“I would give an answer to that, but I feel like it is a trap that I am not ready for. So, you’re right, you never blamed me for anything.” Luna looked at him with some confusion but instead of questioning it, she just grabbed him arm and they started their walk to their class. She saw Aaron, who was confused on why she wasn’t coming out of the cafeteria but he didn’t come over because he saw Luna had her arm in Oliver’s arm. She didn’t need her normal escort.
“So should I question that trap you thought I made for you?”
“No, I don’t think so but I want to make you happy.” Butterflies! He always makes Luna have butterflies! She loved him for this reason, but she doesn’t want to take him from his possible actual soulmate.
“Shut up loser” Luna didn’t know what else to say at that moment because she was flustered, as always. Luna can look at Oliver and know all the little things just from one glance but she couldn’t do anything about it because she feels like she is holding him back. She is madly in love with him but yet she is okay with letting a rumor that she is dating someone else go around. She didn’t want to hurt him anymore.
They went into class and switched seats, Lorraine acted like it was normal and even spoke with Oliver more today. She was happy that there were no more problems. As class finished, she saw Aaron and he chose to keep his distance again since she was still near Oliver.
“Hey loser, let’s make sure we still hang out even if we don’t have any classes together.”
“Okay, I can try but I might be extremely busy with all my other friends.” As he said that, he gestured to Aaron who kept looking back at her. She laughed and shoved him a little, he ended up smiling.
“You don’t have to stay by me because it is the last day of school. You can go be with him too, I trust you with other people even though people say you and him are cute together.” She stopped in her tracks, he heard the rumor. Yet, he trusts her with Aaron.
“You heard the rumor? By who?” She couldn’t help but freak out a little.
“You took him to class today, I was in the classroom next to it and all I heard after you left him there was ‘OMG AARON SHE LOOKS CUTE WITH YOU!’ And things like that but I could tell that you were just having fun because I heard him say you don’t have to do this. That’s why I trust you, you chose to be your weirdo self and not follow the rumor but you let him have some good attention which was nice.” Woah! She didn’t hear any of that, then again Luna probably would have been told all that information after lunch if she was in the cafeteria like she was supposed to be. She ended up walking Oliver to class to be nice.
“Yeah, he is just a friend and if anything he looks at me like a little sister so once he told me, I couldn’t help but make it better by showing off with him. I’m shocked you’re not jealous, like you usually are.”
“Honestly, I was at first because I saw you with him a lot and it was annoying me, but I remembered what you said after the Joaquin situation. I didn’t want you to lose another guy friend because of my jealousy. We will finish this conversation in science, okay girlie?”
“Okay, see you at science.” Wow, he actually listened to her. He was jealous at first but he chose to stay quiet.
