She saw Oliver looking sad, but she doesn’t know what is going on with him.
“Okay, are you okay? You were fine this morning, what happened from then to chorus to now?” He was looking at her with a sad face.
“I am just questioning some stuff.” Luna is hoping that he isn’t questioning her feelings for him because she does love him. She started thinking about it but Oliver is the main reason she had a mini anxiety attack earlier because she couldn’t stop questioning everything for them.
“What kind of stuff, maybe I can help?”
“No, you can’t help with these kinds of questions.” She looked at him as if she was feeling a bit helpless but she couldn’t overthink because that would cause more issues.
“Okay, let me know if you ever need me.”
“I will.” After she said that, she remembered that she doesn’t have Oliver’s phone number. She scribbled her phone number on a piece of paper but she also wrote call me if you need me. She slid the note to Oliver hoping that it might make him feel even a little better. He read the note and smiled at her to show that he was happy to have that. She focused on class, she didn’t even focus on Joaquin during class. Class went by a bit slower than the rest of the day. When she noticed time, she realized there was 10 minutes left in class and when she looked at the door, she noticed Aaron was already outside looking at her. She waved at him and he waved back. She looked back at her notebook but she could feel like someone else was looking at her. That wasn’t Aaron and it was Oliver. Oliver was giving her the look of whose that. To change his mind, she grabbed his face and smiled as big as she could.
“I will see you tomorrow, dork. Don’t throw my number around also. I want to be able to help you even with everything and anything.” He looked at her and then looked back at the door to see Aaron still waiting for Luna.
“Be careful with that dude, girlie. He looks at you like he owns you.” As Luna put her notebook away, she looked at Oliver and smiled.
“He doesn’t, he’s just worried about me today.” After she said that, the bell rang and she left. Aaron was gesturing for her bag, she rejected it this time so he tried taking it off her shoulder. She knew that she wasn’t going to win, so she gave him the bag. They both were looking like idiots fighting over her bag.
“So what did you learn?”
“I learned that my guy doesn’t trust you with me.” Aaron acted like a dramatic actress and put his hand on his chest and gasped as if she said that she loved his brother more.
“I’m insulted, dummy. Did you defend me against your boyfriend?” Weirdly enough she did defend him to Oliver because Oliver was assuming the worst about Aaron when he doesn’t know anything about him. She hated when Oliver would assume the worst of a person to her especially when she felt okay with them.
“Don’t defend me to your boyfriend, he might not trust you now.” That’s more confusing now. She just wants no more confusion. Aaron went into the bus first and he pulled her the entire time all the way to the back. All the way to the back, to his section. Lucy and Jessica were looking at Luna as she was sitting next to Aaron in the back seat.
“OH SNAP! Luna made it to the back!!!” Derek made everyone know that she was in the back of the bus with them.
“Thanks Derek for making it known.”
“Just curious, what brings you back here with us?” She pointed to Aaron as he held up her bag. They switched spots because she wanted the window and Aaron wanted to talk to Derek real quick.
“Alright you, spill it. What happened earlier? I even asked a couple of my friends to see if maybe they know something I don’t know, and they were also confused.” She knew she had to tell someone, especially the person that had been by her side all day. She knew someone would be putting in the effort to understand her.
“So the guy I like, me and him have known each other for awhile, we ‘dated’ for two hours last year but I was scared on how to date. So before Christmas break, I was in a weird angle because I like my guy and then I had a crush on the guy that sits across from me in science class. So before break, all my friends asked me who I would want to kiss on Valentine’s Day and I was able to immediately have an answer but today was weird. When I called my mom to go home, she said no but the nurse told me that I had an anxiety attack and all I was thinking about was him. I was thinking about how he might not want to be with me anymore because he sees me with multiple guys including today with you. But also telling my mom about staying still for 10 minutes straight, I know my mom is going to ask me questions about it because that’s a new one because technically I skipped class and I usually don’t do that.” Aaron was focused on what Luna was saying, he didn’t want to miss a single thing from her. She felt a bit better saying everything out loud, but she was scared of who was listening around her, but at this point she didn’t care. She needed to talk it out.
“Wow, no wonder you struggled a lot in focusing, during your chorus class you looked like you were on autopilot which was why I stayed close by because it looked like you were struggling to stay focused today. If your boyfriend doesn’t trust you, then you shouldn’t be with him.” Wow, she had never heard that line before.
“I think he trusts me, but he thinks that everyone looks at me like I can be theirs when I am just a friend to everyone. I love him so much but when he found out I had a mini crush on the science guy, he told him immediately that we dated last year. Which pushed my button and I told him and he apologized but it wasn’t like he understood why I was upset with him. For me to focus, it has been hard all day for myself. I felt like I was buffering all day, all my classes were zooming by but I felt like I was running behind schedule. I still feel like I am behind schedule. Does that make me crazy?” She felt like she was going to cry again. Luna looked out the window to see where we were in the bus route, they had only done the second stop and they were the last stop. She leaned her head on Aaron not caring how it looked in anyone’s eyes.
“It doesn’t make you crazy, but you need to figure out if you want to be with someone that you trust and care about or someone that makes you question who is your friend and who wants you in that way. Is that why you questioned what I meant when I said `look at you?’” Luna immediately nodded.
“No dummy, you look beautiful and you have a body a lot of people would want in all sense of the word want. I don’t want you, I actually do have a girlfriend and she questioned where I was today and I told her before picking you up in your last class that you need me more than she did today. You never have to worry about me wanting you like that. Okay?” She nodded and held his arm. She was glad she had him and she didn’t have to deal with that issue.
“Thanks Aaron, you have no idea how much easier you made my day. Today felt like everything was going so fast while I was going so slow but having you by my side today just made me feel better.” Luna started tearing up because she couldn’t stop thinking about all the issues she was having today. Aaron held her hand and he shouldn’t have because Luna squeezed it like it was the only way to release all emotions.
“You are okay, no one can see you, just me and Derek but Derek knows you are dealing with some stuff.”
“Shut up, I am not trying to cry. If I cry then I have to explain it to my mom because she texted me to go to her job once I get off the bus.” Which wasn’t wrong, her mom wanted her by her side to see what was going on with her. Luna was okay with doing that because then she can hang out with her mom’s coworkers, like Lily and Michael.
“Then I am taking you to your mom’s job because I don’t trust you alone.” Awww Aaron, that’s sweet but no. No. No. Noooo. If her mom saw Luna with Aaron, she would have a field day dealing with the million questions.
“Thank you, but I don’t need you to do that. She doesn’t work that far from the complex so I will be fine.” He looked at her and he was looking at her to see if she was telling the truth to him, which is fair but she hasn’t lied to Aaron or to anyone in the complex. That was the one thing she said she wouldn’t do in the new school, no more lying about who she is or what her life is like, she wants to know how people will treat her knowing the truth about her.
“Okay, but tomorrow if you need me, let me know. You saw that I was able to be by your side for a lot of the day.”
“Thank you but I think I will be fine by tomorrow and if anything you would be able to see if I am going insane, clearly since you saw it today.”
“True, but if anything give me your phone.” She handed him her phone not knowing what he was going to do. He added his number to her phone to be able to text him if anything is wrong and she just wants to talk to him about it. It made her smile because she only had Oliver to talk to about her life problems but having Aaron was nice.
“Now don’t call me at 4 am because I won’t be up at that time.” They both laughed.
“Okay perfect, I will call you at 3:30 am since you’ll be up at that time right? Right!” He shoved her a little as they both laughed even more. She was glad to have Aaron in her life. The rest of the ride she switched spots with Aaron and was talking with Derek who was sitting across but was laying in his seat with his legs up. They were all making jokes about how Aaron was being a caring guy.
