“Thank you, I am going to head to my next class.”
“Good thinking. Don’t forget to ask your parents about your anxiety.” So let’s recap what happened, Luna went to math…did something happen in math? No, she would have realized it. She knew she had to go to her next class. As she was walking to her class, she saw Derek. She waved at him as he was with his friends. She didn’t want to run into Aaron just yet because she didn’t know how to explain that her mom is forcing her to stay in school. She got to her class within the 10 minutes to get to each class, she looked around and saw Lucy. She sat next to Lucy and she just tried to focus on what the teacher was saying. She knew that if she could get to lunch, she would be fine. Maybe Luna forgot to eat something? She didn’t know, all she knew was that she was going to have to ask her parents what anxiety was especially for her.
She watched time pass in her classes until lunch hit.
“Hey Luna, you look horrible. Everything okay?” She didn’t notice that she had the same lunch period as Tabitha.
“Hey Tabitha, supposedly “I am fine,'' said the nurse but I know Aaron is going to force me to tell him what is going on.” Tabitha looked shocked by Luna’s response.
“Why Aaron, I’d understand if it was Derek but Aaron? Are you sure he wasn’t playing around?” Could he have been messing with her head? No, Aaron could tell that she was going through something because of that hug. He would have made her let him go if he was messing with her, right? Too many questions!
“Nah, he was the one that took me to the nurse’s office. He cares about us more than he shows but don’t tell him I told you that.” They both giggled about that, but she wasn’t wrong about that line. She truly believed that Aaron cared about her even with his sarcastic jokes.
Lunch came and went, Luna was so out of it that she was hardly involved in the topics at the table. When lunch was over, she felt her heart slowly getting fast, she felt like she had just ran a marathon. Of course, the person that sees her struggling to breathe was Aaron.
“I thought you went home, why are you here?”
“Do you actually care or is this a joke?” Aaron took a step back looking at her with his most offended look he had.
“Of course I do, I don’t hug people that I don’t know unless they are my friends and family. I don’t know who made you think that I was making this a joke but it's not. Since you’re stuck in school with us, what’s your next class? I am making sure that you actually go and don’t get stuck in the hallway again.” He said that as he started slowly pushing Luna forward.
“My next class is chorus, you don’t have to take me to class Aaron. I am sorry for assuming you didn’t care, it’s just you never showed that side before so I couldn’t tell if it was an act or not.”
“No dummy, I do care about you. I don’t care about some of the others as much but you yes and I will take you to chorus class. Give me your bag, I’m going to show you that I am a gentleman.” She knew that this would end up bad if she didn’t give him her bag, so she handed him the bag and he acted like it weighed over 100 lbs when it weighed nothing because she had 2 notebooks in there and a reading book for class. He held her close to him to make sure that she didn’t fall over. What is everyone going to say when they see her with Aaron? Should she be scared about what Oliver will say? Once the question popped in her head, she saw him. Her heart skipped a beat.
“Okay we are close enough to my class and you still have to go to your class as well.”
“My next class is gym and fun fact the guys locker room is close to your chorus classroom so no. You aren’t getting rid of me that easily.”
“Fine. Then be prepared to meet someone very close to me.”
“Oh god! You have a boyfriend? Of course you would, look at you.” WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?! Moving past that line, no she can’t move past that line.
“What do you mean? What’s wrong with me?” She knew she was a bit more developed in the right areas but Luna couldn’t see it because of her stomach.
“Luna, you look beautiful even on your bad days.” Wow, confidence at 100% but she didn’t know how to respond.
“Aaron, I am kind of with someone and it’s that guy.” She pointed at Oliver who was right in front of them walking to class. Luna felt like she crushed Aaron’s heart but Aaron was cute, he could have any girl he wanted. She didn’t want him to be the guy that liked her because they lived in the same area so he could easily go up to her mom or Marc and say the most embarrassing things about why he liked her.
“I mean, I don’t like you like that Luna. I just don’t want any dudes trying to fight me because I am taking care of their girl. I see you like a little sister, my dumb little sister that doesn’t know anything.” We both laughed, the amount of awkwardness that happened, kept them laughing. Until they noticed it, they were at the chorus door. She took her bag back and hugged Aaron one more time. This time the hug was different, it was a gratitude hug.
“I’ll pick you up after class to make sure you go to your next class.”
