She rolled her eyes because she knew that it was impossible to say no to him today. He already saw her cry and have not one but two anxiety attacks. She went to her seat and she saw Oliver, he looked annoyed when she looked over at Lorraine, Lorraine just shrugged her shoulders.
“Hey dork, you okay?”
“Yeah, I am just ready to go home.” Thank goodness, he didn’t see her with Aaron. Class went by so quickly that she didn’t notice it was over until she saw everyone packing up again. Was she on a lag? She got up, packed up her bag and immediately stepped out of the classroom to see Aaron waiting for her.
“You guys sound good.”
“How do you know, were you listening to us?” When did he finish gym? Gym takes a hot minute to change out of our gym clothes, but she was a girl so that could explain the speed.
“Yeah, gym finished 10 minutes early today which meant I was able to stay here and listen to the chorus girls singing especially when I know one.” Even though he saw Luna like a sister, she had to admit that was a smooth line. He had his hand out which was his way to tell her to give him the bag. She handed him the bag, he acted like it was heavy again, they both laughed.
“Okay dummy, what’s your next class?” He was committed to keeping an eye on her today.
“My last 2 classes are language arts and then science, both upstairs. You don’t have to take me to those classes, you have been extremely helpful today. Thank you.”
“Shut up dummy, lets go.” She led him to her language arts class, she saw Kaley in the hallway, she smiled and waved while Aaron gave her a dirty look.
“Why the face?”
“Don’t trust Kaley, she isn’t as good as you think she is.” That sounds mysterious. What did Kaley do to Aaron that he doesn’t like her? She seemed nice to her.
“Okay, well we are here so I need my bag back.” He took it off and acted like he lost a hundred pounds. He knew how to make her smile. She realized that he is doing it because he still doesn’t know what caused Luna to cry earlier.
“I’ll meet you here after class. I am finishing my good deeds by making sure you go to all your classes for the rest of today, don’t get used to it.” Blunt. She needed someone to be blunt to her, she needed someone that wasn’t going to sugarcoat her. She got into class and everyone questioned who he was to her. She looked out the door as he was waving at her. She just said he’s her dumb older brother. Class went by quickly again. She felt like she wrote nothing in her notebook, but she looked down on the page where all the notes for today’s class were. She stepped outside and she found Aaron slightly out of breath. Which meant his class was on the other side of the school and he ran to her classroom to take her to science.
“Yeah, tomorrow this won’t be a thing because you look dead.” He smiled like an idiot.
“Definitely not, like I can take you to chorus after your lunch but all the other’s I can’t.” She was glad she had a good friend like Aaron.
“Come on, I’m taking you to class first. What class is yours?” He kept nodding left and right as he finally got his breath. Then gestured to her bag again.
“You know one day, you’re going to ask for my bag and I will put rocks in there to feel like 100 lbs. Since you’re taking me to science, what class are you trying to go late to?”
“English class, and don’t you dare your bag is already heavy as it is.” She laughed as they were walking side by side to science which wasn’t a far walk.
“My bag isn’t that heavy, or maybe I am just used to it. How heavy is your bag?” Aaron took off his bag and handed it to her, it was light. It felt like nothing was in it. She was tempted to open it and see maybe 5 papers, one for each class he went to today.
“Why is your bag so light? Do you have anything in your bag?”
“I have a single folder full of loose leaf paper and I use it for whatever class needs me to take notes. Other than that, I just listen to what the teachers are saying and remember it. What’s in yours?” Is Aaron smarter than she assumed? Well, Aaron has been showing a completely different side.
“2 notebooks, one of them is a 3 subject notebook and then I have one of reading books. A bunch of pens and pencils, so I know it’s not that heavy.” That’s not a lot, right?
“Nerd!”
“Jerk!” Both of them were laughing as they were laughing. They got to her science class and she got to the door when Oliver did. He looked drained out. Aaron looked at her with the face of “I don’t like the guy you like,” but he wasn’t going to say anything in front of her and Oliver. He handed Luna her bag and gave her a little hug. She didn’t know what the hug was for but she took it anyway.
“I’ll see you on the bus and I will explain what happened earlier to me. I promise.”
“You better because I thought you would tell me but you haven’t yet. So I will hold you to that promise of telling me. Now go learn something interesting in science.” She couldn’t help but laugh and walked into the classroom.
