Time went by within a blink of an eye. Luna woke up to realize that it was graduation. She was over the moon, she was ready to show her mom the dress and heels. She was looking at the dress, thinking about how she was going to look like a princess, but also she wanted Oliver to see her as his princess. She woke up earlier than Kennedy, which meant she was able to shower to make getting her hair manageable for her mom.
“Wow, you’re up early. What’s the occasion?” Her mom thought she was a comedian, acting like she didn’t know that today was a big day for her.
“Oh, you know. That day you realize that I am an awesome kid.” Being extra cheesy and happy, no one could ruin Luna’s happiness. Her graduation was during the day, while Kennedy had her graduation in the evening. That was one thing that did bug Luna, that Kennedy didn’t really need a graduation, but she had one for preschool, so it was only fair. The only thing that kept messing with Luna’s head was, how was her dad going to act in front of everyone? She never thought there would be a moment where both her mom and dad would be in the same room to celebrate her successes. She was over the moon with excitement, especially since Oliver would get to see her in the princess dress.
“Awesome? Horrible? Same thing in my eyes. What kind of hairstyle do you want for your special day?” That was one thing that Luna didn’t think about. She didn’t know what to do for her hair that would match the dress and shoes.
“Can I have my hair in braids and during the day, I will take it out before graduation starts so then it will look pretty?” Thinking about it, it did sound like a smart idea in Luna’s eyes. Her mom clearly thought the same thing, because she started parting her hair into two parts to do the braids. Whenever Luna’s mom did Luna’s hair, she would do it extremely tight, which meant that Luna was extra lucky to take out her hair midday. She didn’t want a headache before her graduation, especially since she knew she would be getting up a lot.
Luna didn’t know if she should get dressed up for school and just bring the dress with her. She liked knowing that she would go into Mrs. Lewis’ class in this beautiful princess dress. Her heart was ready to explode with happiness for finishing her last year in elementary school. She was ready to start middle school with Oliver. As she’s getting ready, she slides right into the dress. Luna was a bit nervous putting on the dress. She thought it was going to be the red dress again, but it went on easily. She zipped it up herself; she put on the shoes and she could feel herself being beautiful. She went outside to show her mom, but her mom was already gone for work.
“Wow! That’s a dress.” Marc was looking at her, but she couldn’t tell if he was being serious or if he was joking.
“Ain’t it pretty? I feel like a princess.”
“Well, you look like one. That’s all that matters. Is Kennedy ready for school?” Luna was shocked that Marc gave her a compliment. He wasn’t a fan of some of the stuff that Luna would wear.
“She’s almost done. I think she’s making sure she has everything.” He called Kennedy to come out.
“Luna, your dress is nice. I’m ready.” Once she said that, Luna grabbed her bag, and she took a breath, knowing that she was going to school looking this way. As they were heading to school, Marc was explaining that they were going to be on their best behavior with her dad. He was telling her when they would be getting there and where they are going to try to sit in the auditorium. She was excited to go to class.
