7th Grade Happened cont.

She sat all the way in the back corner while her new friends were near the front. She decided to try and make friends with the people at her desk.
“Hi, I’m Luna and you guys are?” She saw a girl with a nice pixie cut hairstyle that she rocked more than anything, and then opposite of her was a girl that had extremely long hair but she looked like she was dealing with her inner demons out loud for everyone to see.
“I’m Edith and I believe that is Penelope.” So Edith does the talking between her and Penelope.
“Hi Edith, Penelope. Do you know why the teacher gave us assigned seats?”
“To probably avoid any cliques to be made but she didn’t separate the roster correctly because the bottle blondes ended up together.”
“Bottle blondes?” After she said that, she pointed to the table with Matthew and Heather. She wanted to be at that table more than anything.
“Those are the bottle blondes, and I saw you come in with one of them which means you are the odd duck out since you got taken out of the group. Sorry, you were meant to be with the outcasts.”
“I am not a bottle blonde, I am just me. I make friends with everyone and anyone, I never care about anything unless you try to physically hurt me then we have an issue.” Penelope laughed, does that mean she liked Luna? Does she get a point for making the creepy girl smile?
“I like that kind of mentality. Sorry, I get shy when I am sitting with new people and I am not good with girls.” Penelope was a very low speaking person. She reminded her of Lorraine, which was another person she hadn’t seen.
“Well Penelope, you don’t have to be shy with us. You are stuck with us all year.” Luna needed to crack a joke because it's an odd line to hear that someone isn’t good with girls. She was better with talking with guys because of wrestling and sports but she spoke with girls about boy bands and all that jazz. She always found a conversation.
Luna spent the entire class time making jokes and having fun with Edith and Penelope would join in occasionally. Luna would look over at Matthew’s table and they would both make eye contact knowing that she was going to meet up with them after class. When class finished, they were the first ones to leave. She wasn’t mad since it was the last class of the day, but she thought she understood the eye contact from Matthew. Oh well.
Luna walked out of class and she just walked to her bus alone. She felt weirdly alone because she wanted to find Aaron and walk with him to the bus but also it’s confusing because she also missed being with Oliver. She missed seeing him everyday and now it’s weird, because she felt like they were growing distant, it’s not like she was glad to not have him or Aaron around.
“Luna, what took you so long?” It was Matthew, he actually waited for her to get out.
“I thought you left already, why did you wait for me?”
“I told you I would…with my eyes, I thought you understood that? Should I just have said it out loud? I will next time.” Luna couldn’t help but laugh. She didn’t think she would bond that well with Matthew, like she isn’t a fan of Matthew’s twin brother Marty. Marty had this way in front of her that she couldn’t deal with him for more than 30 minutes.
“I understood, but when I saw you and Heather run out of art, I just thought you went to your bus, but I guess I was wrong. Sorry for assuming.” Luna was showing herself to see how he would act. She was scared to show that side but since she can’t rely on Aaron and she doesn’t see Oliver like that it’s harder for her.
“Don’t assume with me, I stand by my word.” Wow, Luna couldn’t help but blush. She couldn’t handle another crush, she loved one guy and she was going to prove that she is loyal to him. Luna kept walking with Matthew and she started focusing on his features from his low haircut/trim with a nice fade; yes Luna knows haircuts because of Joseph. He liked to have his hair in a very specific way. She didn’t realize how tall he was, for a 7th grader, which caught her off guard.
“Random question, Matthew?”
“Depends on the question.”
“”How tall are you?”
“Ah! I am 5’11”, how tall are you shorty?” Damn! She didn’t think he was that tall, now she definitely regretted asking.
“I’m not that short, but if you must know I am 4’11”, I am average height.”
“You’re tiny! You’re a foot smaller than me! That’s so adorable! I love it so much!” Luna couldn’t help but blush even more now. She didn’t want to blush, but she only got called adorable by Oliver even though he also called her “mean names” but that was normal for her especially in their relationship.
“I might be tiny, but I will not care if I have to fight someone for calling me short. I’m not afraid.” She was having fun just talking about their heights, she usually gets upset but Matthew made it funny for her.
“Alright, Rocky. Don’t hurt yourself with those fists.” He said that as he was laughing at how small her hands are, he kept flipping her hands realizing they are that small.
“Stop looking at my hands like that, I can tell that you are thinking about how small my hands are.” Matthew looked at her eyes after looking at his hands. She could tell something was happening but she didn’t want it to. She pulled her hands out of his hands so she could just shove them in her pockets.
“Oh look! My bus, I’ll see you tomorrow Matthew. Don’t forget I am Rocky to you now.” She was glad that her bus was right there. She didn’t want to deal with what Matthew was showing.
