Welcome to Middle School cont.

Those next few days, flew by. She was excited to see Oliver again, she missed his hugs. The night before she pulled her first day outfit, she remembered that she still had to take a photo for her ID. She was ready for anything at that point, she proved to herself that she was stronger than she looked. She was ready to stand tall and act like the last 3 years weren’t her own personal purgatory.
She woke up early to get ready, she didn’t know what to do with her hair so she soaked it and then tied her hair into a low ponytail and made her hair look wavy when she knew that it was going to be a puffy mess.
“First day of middle school, are you nervous?” Luna’s mom was asking as she was helping Luna make breakfast for herself.
“I guess, but I also already have a friend so I am not that nervous. I hope I don’t miss my bus.” That is correct, Luna was taking a bus to school because during the summer while Kennedy and her were in New York brushing up on their toughness, her parents decided to move to a new location again. In Luna’s eyes, this was the 3rd time moving, to Kennedy it was her first move. The apartment was in the right amount of distance from her middle school that she could take a school bus with other kids. Luna did like the new place because it was quieter and she would make more friends in her area. She was looking at her little breakfast sandwich and was focusing on time. She was scared she’d miss the bus.
“If you miss the bus, you will be in big trouble so don’t miss it.”
“I won’t, don’t worry.” Luna watched her mom leave for work, she sat in the living room watching the news about the crime in her old neighborhood. She checked her bag one more time before leaving to make sure she had everything she was supposed to bring. She left the apartment and went to wait for the school bus, there was a huge group of kids waiting. She stayed on her iPod nano, she was told not to bring it but she needed that she wasn’t going to make friends immediately, especially with the kids in the complex.
When Luna got there, she took a breath and went looking for Oliver. When she found him, he was looking at his schedule and he had the look of a lost tourist. She thought it was funny because she knew that was going to be her for the next couple of days as well.
“Excuse me sir, I think math class is this way.” His face lit up knowing that it was Luna saying that to him.
“Thank goodness you’re here. I feel like us roaming the school on orientation would have helped, but they didn’t put in the factor of lots of tall people.” He wasn’t wrong, Luna looked around and there were people a lot taller than her, granted she was 4’6” so next to her, she is a mouse.
“Well come on shorty, we can’t be late or we will be separated from sitting with each other.”
“You’re right! Lead the way.” Luckily, Luna remembered how to get to the math classroom because that was the first class she navigated herself to during orientation. They got into the room and saw that there was one section left with 2 seats next to each other. We both sat down and just smiled at each other. Luna pulled out her 3 subject notebook.
“That notebook is for this class?”
“No dummy, it's for math, English, and science. Why have 3 separate notebooks when my three hardest classes should be together in one?”
“What if you forget which section goes for which class?”
“They are labeled, so when I open it the first class I see is math because we have math first and then science is last because that’s our last class and my English is the middle one. Does it make sense now?”
“Don’t ask for my notes when you start mixing classes, because you always bully me for my writing.”
“I don’t bully you for that, I just think it doesn’t look neat. That’s not bullying because I put the question of how it’s that bad when we were taught cursive last year, but I guess that’s me bullying you.” As she looked at his notebook, she drew a smiley face on the corner with her pencil and smiled as she did it. That was when the teacher came in. Class was like a blur, Luna blinked and class was over. She took out her schedule to see who was her next teacher. After that class, the rest of the day started blurring over, she got lost 4 times max. She got to class late because she was talking with her teacher about the first big project. Luna liked being ahead of projects. When she walked in, she apologized to the chorus instructor and she found Oliver on the top of the visors at the end; he saved her a seat next to him and some random girl.
“You’re late.”
“Shut up! I got preoccupied with a class. Did I miss anything?”
That was when the girl next to Luna said, “no, she was just saying that the seats we are sitting in will be our seats for the full year.”
“Oh perfect, thank you. I’m Luna by the way, and this is Oliver and you are?”
“Hi, I’m Lorraine” Lorraine looked like she was nervous to even say anything, but since she heard how comfortable Luna and Oliver were with each other, she thought she could join in.
“It’s nice to meet you Lorraine, from both me and him. He’s shy sometimes.”
“Shut up girlie, I am not shy. Hi Lorraine, please ignore the girl in between us because of the fact that she was late to class.”
“Don’t make me hurt you Price.”
“Do it, right here, right now.”
As we are having our usual banter, we hear Lorraine laughing at us. Which confused us both.
“You guys are funny, how long have you both been going out?” Luna could feel the heat in her face rising. Was it obvious that they dated? Luna didn’t know what to say, and Oliver could tell.
“We aren’t together, we have known each other for awhile now that we end up fighting a lot. If it’s a lot for you, please let us know and we will finish our fight after class.” Wow! Luna couldn’t come up with a response and she knew she wasn’t going to be able to come up with a response similar to what he said. Instead she just nodded her head in agreement with him.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cause any issues, it was just the way you guys were fighting, you sounded like a couple.”
“It’s fine, you aren’t the only one that thought that.” Oliver was still speaking for both of them, because Luna knew she would say the wrong responses. Oliver came close to Luna’s ear, he whispered, “Breathe girlie, you’re blushing more and more.”
She muttered under her breath, “shut up.”
She looked at him smiling as if he knew why she was blushing, but she didn’t know if he knew that she still liked him. She stayed quiet the rest of the class just to be on the safe side. Next thing she knew the class was over.
“Okay girlie, I will see you in science. Don’t be late to that too.”She rolled her eyes at him, she knew that she wanted to say shut up but by the time she was going to, he was already leaving. Lorraine was looking at Luna for a long period of time, Luna knew that she wanted to say something to her but didn’t want to cross a line.
“You can say whatever you like Lorraine.”
“I’m sorry for assuming you guys were a couple.” We are truly back to the topic with no Oliver to hold the conversation.
“It’s okay really, if anything we do act like a couple a lot. It happens to the point that we forget that we aren’t a couple until reality hits.” OMG, Luna didn’t realize what she said until after she said it. Luna hoped that Lorraine didn’t understand what that all meant.
“Let me guys, you like him but he doesn’t like you like that?” The amount of shock Luna had on her face was high.
“No, we both like each other but we both don’t know how to be a couple so we aren’t going to try just yet. Just don’t tell him that I told you.”
“I won’t tell him anything. Thanks for telling me your secret. I thought you didn’t like me because I asked about your love life.”
“Nah, it just caught me off guard and I was trying to hide my blushing that made me look like I was sunburned. That was why Oliver whispered in my ear, he was telling me to breathe and to look up so I didn’t get in trouble.”
“Oh that makes more sense. Okay, see you tomorrow Luna.” Luna waved Lorraine away, she had to think about her next class. As she was walking toward her next class, she saw someone that was on her bus this morning. She waved at them because she was feeling a bit confident. She went to her second to last class and time went by so fast that she felt like she didn’t write anything down.
