Family Swap cont.

“Luna!” she heard it again. This time she wasn’t the only one that heard her name. Laurissa looked around for her. Laurissa’s face gave her the answer about who was calling her name. She knew it was her dad. She knew she would have to be “good,” but she knew that her anger would show if he gave her issues for not spending the day with him and these other kids. He came over to us, looking extremely happy to see them, but when she looked at Laurissa and Sammy, they weren’t happy to see him. What was worse was that she saw Lucas behind him, smiling as if he knew something that she didn’t. She hated that the most, because that also meant he was going to use it against Luna.
“Hi dad, how have you been enjoying the park with the McCoy family?” Sammy choked on his own laughter when she said that line. She had a right to say that line. Her dad and his decisions annoyed her. She loved her dad, but all she wanted to do was scream at him and humiliate him in front of everyone, including the misfit toys.
“Young lady, I have been looking for you all day. Where were you?”
“I was with Laurissa, Sammy, and the boys. Where were you? Oh, wait. You don’t have to answer that question. I knew where you were whenever we came here. How was the lazy river?” She knew that she was stepping into a new territory when she felt Laurissa pull one of the vest belts back to make sure no one pulls her, while Sammy held her hand.
“Luna, we were all supposed to have fun together as a family, but you decided to take matters into your own hands by staying away from me. Is that what you want? You want to stay away from your dear ole dad.” At that moment, she wanted to stay away from the misfit toys and her dad. She didn’t care about how it would hurt him, she wanted him to feel the pain that she was feeling because he called them family, which meant the worst thing ever. He and the Wicked Witch got back together.
“You have fun with your family, dad, but I would rather stay with Laurissa’s family. We were having fun and they keep me safe.”
“What is everyone talking about safety? Luna, are you not safe with me?”
“Right now? No. I’m not safe with you.”
“Excuse me!” He looked at her with pure disgust, while she saw Lucas’s face. He was enjoying this more than anything, he was going to hold this against Luna till her dad and his mom weren’t a thing anymore. He was going to remind her dad of this moment every time her dad would want to call her. Lucas was going to tell his mom about this moment and they will probably create this horrible plan to keep Luna out of the picture.
“Blake, don’t cause a scene. That’s the last thing we all want to happen. Just walk away.” Sammy decided to step in.
“You’re right. Luna, let’s go. Now.” Luna’s dad was about to pull her arm, but luckily Laurissa was smart to keep holding Luna’s vest belts. She pulled Luna back toward her and into the water.
“Luna will not be going with you. You have your hands full with three other kids, you are already outnumbered. She is staying with us. This is not up for discussion. Now, walk away.” Laurissa’s mom’s voice came out. That was a voice everyone was scared of. Laurissa was always the bubbly one. She knew how to have fun with all ages, but she knew that if anyone was going to hurt someone close to her heart; she wouldn’t care who they were, she would yell at them in public or in private.
“Laurissa, she is my daughter. She has to be with me. You have your kids, I just want mine.” Hearing that, all Luna could think was… when did she become property?
“I’m staying with Laurissa and Sammy. You asked if I was safe with you and I said my answer. Respect my wishes, I respect yours. Please dad, just go.”
“We will discuss this when we are all together, also the kids are staying the night. Laurissa, can they stay in the guest room?” Luna’s heart dropped faster than she did. She couldn’t breathe anymore. Her dad was putting his own daughter in danger, and he didn’t care.
“Sorry, but the only kid that is staying in the guest room will be my god-daughter, Luna. You have your own place, they can stay with you. If I see any of these children in my home in the middle of the night, I will personally stab them. Nothing personal, kids, but I was not a fan of your mother and I was not a fan of how you guys acted toward my children. I am just looking out for my family INCLUDING my god-daughter.” Wow, Luna knew Laurissa was mad at her dad, but wow. Sammy looked at Laurissa, shocked, because he knew he could not fix her statement to make it seem better than what she said. Luna already knew that there was nothing Sammy could say to make it better because she was full on mom mode and no one wanted to say anything.
“Really Laurissa, you wouldn’t open your home to these kids? I thought you of all people would take the kids in, but clearly you don’t want them around. Luna, you will not be staying with them.”
“NO! I AM STAYING WITH LAURISSA AND SAMMY! YOU STILL AREN’T LISTENING. LOOK AROUND, THEY KNOW THAT IF I WENT WITH YOU, I WOULD BE UNCOMFORTABLE AND SCARED FOR MY SAFETY. I HAVE SAID IT TWICE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH YOU RIGHT NOW. IF YOU THINK I AM STAYING UNDER THE SAME ROOF WITH THOSE KIDS, YOU MIGHT AS WELL TAKE ME HOME RIGHT NOW BECAUSE YOU CLEARLY DON’T CARE ABOUT ME. JUST LEAVE US ALONE. PLEASE, DAD. JUST LEAVE.”
Luna was yelling. She wanted everyone to hear her. She wanted to cause a scene because she knew that would be the only way to get her dad to leave. As she was causing a scene, Lucas decided to step in and try to pull her with him. She immediately lost her footing and fell. She was getting more annoyed. It was a good thing that her mom taught her how to respond to a person trying to pull her. Luna pulled Lucas’s foot, and he fell on his back. She didn’t care.
“Luna! Apologize to Lucas! Right now! This isn’t funny anymore, you could have hurt him.” She was crying out of anger. She could hear Oliver’s voice trying to calm her down, but it wasn’t working.
“No. I got told by my mother that if someone tries to pull me, they deserve to fall. I am not going to say sorry because he deserved to fall at this moment. You are taking his side, instead of telling him NOT to put his hand on YOUR DAUGHTER! Is that not what is happening here? CORRECT ME IF I’M WRONG!” Luna was crying at this point. She felt betrayed by her own dad. He didn’t care about her, all he cared about was winning that witch’s heart. Guess what, she could have him. Clearly her dad didn’t care about her, so why should she care about him. Sammy picked up Luna and started walking away.
“Sammy! Put her down! She’s coming with me now!”
“Blake, look at your daughter. She’s destroyed by your actions. You chose. She’s broken inside and out; the fact that you didn’t defend your child against another kid shows where Luna stands in your head. She is staying with us and none of these other kids you invited are, especially after Lucas tried pulling her by her arm. She needs a safe place to calm down, and being with you isn’t the answer. I’m sorry, Blake, but we are leaving now. Have fun with the McCoy family.” Sammy decided to walk away fully. She could feel her heart breaking more. She wanted Oliver to hold her and tell her she was being stronger than she thought. Luna couldn’t stop herself from crying. She felt broken. She felt something touching her hand. It was Jonah, holding her hand. Jonah was the little brother that Luna never had.
