As Luna was remembering this entire moment, she realized that she was in front of the stairs to her apartment. She didn’t want to go up yet, so she sat on the bottom steps trying to forget everything that happened between her and Aaron. He was doing so great after she told him everything, the fact that he had that situation going on while she was next to him…she felt weird now.
She saw Aaron looking miserable, she knew she was going to see him because he lives on the other side but he probably didn’t want to go home either after the humiliation. They made eye contact, but she didn’t know what to say or how to say anything about it. He gestured if he could go to her. She gestured yes.
Once he came over, he immediately started talking.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know what happened. Usually I am in more control about that body part, that was never my intention to make you uncomfortable around me. I care way too much about you to lose our friendship. Please don’t hate me, if you did I would completely understand, I would hate me too if the roles were switched. Being around you and knowing that my feelings are there for you, I was so happy that you were so comfortable around me that you told me important stuff about yourself that my heart and body felt more feelings toward you.” She looked at him and she could tell he had been crying since she walked away. She hated what it did to her but she didn’t hate him. She didn’t know what to say, she just kept staring at him. She got off the steps and hugged him.
“I don’t hate you dummy, it just caught me off guard. You are my friend, I am not going to let something like this ruin our friendship. I guess just control your little you when it comes to me.” She didn’t stop hugging him but she could hear Aaron’s heart slowly beating, which meant he had to be calming down.
“So you’re not mad at me?”
“I’m not mad at you personally, I will say it made me have a moment but I’m not mad at you.”
“What do you mean, are you okay?”
“I am fine, but I have to go home and so do you.” He let her go and she waved as she walked upstairs. She walked in probably looking like she was blushing. Her parents were looking at her with questions but she didn’t want to answer any questions just yet. She didn’t know where her feelings were because she was feeling confused about the whole reliving a moment to then feeling like her and Aaron’s relationship has just changed drastically. She lost her friendship with him and she didn’t know how to say it and share it with anyone. She was sad that she lost someone close to her because of his feelings toward her, Luna couldn’t deal with anything close to feelings like that because she would be hurting Oliver. She came out to say hi to everyone and get some water to calm down.
“Sooo is that your boyfriend?” Here we go!
“No, he is just a friend. He has been going through a lot so I wanted to let him have a shoulder to cry on if he needed it. Plus I met up with his brother as well because he also wanted to talk about it with someone that already knows. So it wasn’t just me and Aaron alone.” Half true…half not, let’s see if they will believe her.
“Aww that’s nice of you to be a good friend for them. Just wanted to make sure since you were with him earlier and it sounded like you were telling him about something. Care to share that with us?” Why? Would it make a difference in how she felt? No!
“One of my friends accused Aaron of beating him up, when Aaron and I were together when the beat up happened. So I was telling Aaron what I said in response to the whole thing, that’s what you walked in on.” All true! Point one Luna’s honesty.
“Why would your friend accuse him of beating him up? Does he hurt people? He looks older too so is he beating up kids in your grade? Why were you and him together?” When was Luna due for an interrogation? She just wants to be under her blankets, she wants to be away from everyone.
“No, Aaron didn’t beat anyone up and he would never do that. Yes, he is older by one year in school, but me and him are the same age. We were together because we had lunch at the same time. I have a headache from all the heat so I am going to go lay down for a few.” She needed to get out of this conversation before she said something she didn’t want to say out loud. She was worried about how her and Aaron’s friendship would be after this whole thing. She laid down and stared at the ceiling and just closed her eyes.
