“Okay, spill the beans. Something is going on with you and I can’t tell what, though.” Laurissa can definitely read her like a book and it’s insanely on point.
“Nothing is making sense anymore in my head. I don’t understand older people at all. If this is how adults act, then I don’t want to be one.”
“What do you mean? Tell me everything. No one is going to stop you or shut you down.”
“Okay, so before we got to your place, we stopped by Raina’s area and I had to deal with Lucas. He said something that made me more scared about my existence, and I had to remind myself that I am in a safe place. Of course, having to do that stupid restart of the week because my lovely dad can’t handle the fact that I have had to grow up faster, thanks to him. Then the whole dress situation, just knowing that I wasn’t able to fit into the red dress, just reminded me I am bigger than I am used to. I just think that being around my dad has been harder for me because all I do is pity him because he doesn’t know what to do with me nowadays. I know I shouldn’t be saying that, but I doubt he realized that the whole Raina situation messed me up. It also doesn’t help that my mother has been giving me issues about my reading.” Telling Laurissa everything calmed Luna down completely. She felt like the weight on her shoulders had been lifted which helped her breathe again. She wanted to cry just thinking about how much she was holding in, but she knew it wouldn’t help her right now.
“Luna, why would you hold this much in? That’s not healthy. If you ever want to talk about anything or everything, you can always come to me. I am always here for you. So tell me every detail, don’t hold back.”
“Well, for starters… Lucas did something to me, and when I replay it in my head it scares me because I don’t know my body like that yet. So, when I saw him, he said that he missed my body. Which was why I was crying when Sammy hugged me. I needed a hug from someone that would protect me at all costs. When I tried telling my dad about Lucas touching me that way. He didn’t believe me because Lucas molested a little boy last year in the apartment complex that we used to live in. The fact that he was okay with leaving me after an argument just shows that he doesn’t know how to handle me. Me and my mom fight all the time about the littlest of things, she doesn’t just leave for an entire day, and she doesn’t make me restart a day. We talk through our fights. Sure, I get punished, but at least we understand each other’s side after every argument. So him leaving just hurts more than anything because he clearly didn’t understand how I felt toward the whole thing. All he cared about was the fact that it was happening in front of you and Sammy. Then he wonders why I have hardly any respect for him, because he doesn’t respect me. I know I should respect him because he is my dad, but let’s be realistic. He hasn’t been my dad for a while.” Luna had to breathe because she could tell that she was going to cry.
“Luna, you aren’t alone. Sammy and I will always be here for you, and we will never let that disgusting boy near you again. Blake not listening to you is one thing, but to assume that it wasn’t true makes me look at him a bit differently. The whole restarting thing still makes no sense, but that’s something that Sammy and I will talk to your dad about when you aren’t around. Hopefully, we can change that for you without even trying.”
“You don’t have to do that. I am used to it, which I know isn’t a good thing to be used to. I think the one thing I wish he would change would be the fact that he constantly chooses the worst women for himself. I look at how he treats these women and how they treat him, then I look at my mom and Marc… they are opposites from dad’s relationships. What’s worse is that I feel like I will become like my dad and I don’t want that to happen because I love Oliver. I love Oliver. I wouldn’t want to hurt him the way those women hurt my dad. I would never use my words to hurt Oliver the way I have seen several women hurt dad with their words.” Wow, Luna loves Oliver. She knew she had strong feelings for Oliver, but she didn’t know if she loved him. When she said it out loud, her heart skipped a beat. She could feel her face turning red from the amount of blush that was hitting her face. Luna knew she was going to love him forever.
“Wow, clearly you know what you are talking about. Which is worrisome, not saying it’s a bad thing to know what love is at a young age, but knowing that you can compare it to your parents’ relationships and looking for the better person for yourself. It’s concerning that your dad’s relationship is that bad. We didn’t know it was that bad. Your dad only told us what they did wrong to him, but when I think about it, there were several women that were good for him, and good for you for knowing the difference. I am glad you have Oliver. I can see you guys being together forever.” Laurissa had the same way of thinking as Luna, because she could see her and Oliver together forever. Just thinking about how she gets to see him in a couple of days, she’s over the moon.
After talking to Laurissa about everything, Luna lightened up. She could relax and not worry about anything going wrong. They got Luna all the essentials she needed. She was happy to have a toothbrush again. She knew that she’d leave her toothbrush at Laurissa’s place for safety, and because Luna knew Laurissa would not be moving into a new house, ever. When they got back to the house, she could see everyone waiting for the ladies.
“Sorry, it took longer and I couldn't find the right bathing suit for her. She’s going to get ready now and then we can all go have fun.” Luna saw Laurissa gesturing to Sammy to talk to him. She trusted Laurissa and Sammy with her secrets because they wouldn’t tell her dad unless it was extremely necessary. Luna brushed her teeth after she put on her bathing suit. It was a cute little one piece that’s every color. Luna also wanted to wear a shirt over it because it was tight on her and she didn’t want her dad to say something about it. She ran outside, where everyone was ready to go. She jumped into the car and they were off to have some fun. She looked around. She noticed her dad wasn’t with them.
“Where’s my dad?”
“Oh, he said he had to take care of something, but it’s okay. He said he will meet us there.” She knew where he was going. He was going to beg to be with Raina. He is going to look like a child crying on his hands and knees, wanting her back. The worst part of Luna knowing this, all she is hoping for, is that Raina didn’t take him back. She wanted Raina to just drop dead, which wasn’t Luna’s mentality on people, but she couldn’t stand Raina. Luna wanted to tell them where he went, but she knew that wasn’t the right thing to do. She just hoped they didn’t join him on our little outing of fun.
